Moving Daze

The day after we got back from vacation, we started the lengthy and tiring process of relocating to our new home. It seems a given that, no matter the forecast or time of year, on moving day it's always raining. Such was the story for us. Fortunately, it only poured on our free furniture. Yes, our home furnishings are still mostly in the style of college students: free or cheap.

Not everyone was happy about our move. Our feline friends did not react well to their world being dragged out the door and loaded into a pick-up. Spook, an indoor-only cat since her last three-month long outdoor stint, tried to make a break for it. Fortunately, we managed to catch her before she'd gotten to far and convince her that, despite the chaos, it was still nicer indoors than out in the rain. Stump, apparently afraid of being left, took to hanging out in his pet carrier. Of course, he still objected when we actually loaded him.

We spent our first night in the new house last night. The first few days in a new place is always kind of like camping: you have to do without certain items because you don't have any clue where they've ended up. We have a few more odds and ends to move out of the apartment and then some cleaning. Then we begin the even longer process of sorting our junk...hopefully we'll be done before the next time we move.
