I really don't understand why we're still debating gay marriage in 2012. Actually, in this case it's not even gay marriage, which is already illegal in North Carolina (again, why?), but domestic partnerships and civil unions. Basically, whoever came up with this law is trying to ensure non-married couples (which includes heterosexuals, by the way) have no rights whatsoever. And that's just wrong.
