Viva Las Vegas!

I survived my Las Vegas vacation with the boy's family...barely.

Awesome Things About My Trip to Vegas:
  • Jeff Dunham - more fun in person, in my opinion.
  • National Finals Rodeo - we were about eight rows from the floor and everything about the event was awesome.  Particularly good were the timed events, where the times just kept getting faster.

  • Zumanity by Cirque de Soleil - a sexy and very, very naughty show.  They pulled in some members of the audience that are definately hoping what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

  • Stratosphere - it rotated as we ate dinner so that we got the chance to see the city from above (106 stories!).  There were also thrillseekers to watch during the meal.

  • New York-New York Roller Coaster - great views of Vegas and a very fun ride.
Other Fun or Interesting Things:
  • Shopping - visited my favorite store and put about five pounds in our checked bag.  Also bought some cute socks.
  • Hoover Dam - probably a requirement for nerds visiting Vegas.  The tour guides were funny and short.
Photobucket
  • Fremont St - where you'll find the neon cowboy and kicking cowgirl from nearly every movie ever made about Vegas.
  • Red Rock Park - a cute nature park area outside of town with...guess what?...red rocks.

Things That Could Have Been Better:
  • Sleeping Arrangements - we're big kids...and it makes me grumpy when we're treated otherwise.
  • Personal Time/Space - I may live with the kid, but I still like to have a little private time with my guy...especially when spending five days with people not prepared to deal with my unedited version.
  • Smoking - casinos aren't interested in alienating gamblers with multiple vices...
  • "Must-Sees" - after a couple of over-the-top decorated casinos, casinos didn't really hold much interest for me.  They do crazy things to attract people.  But we "just had to see" about 20 more casinos, including one with creepy animatronic animals as the main attraction.
  • Santa Run - 5k race to attempt to break the world record for most Santas in one place.  Sounds fun, right?  As long as you're not expecting to actually get to run during the race...

We had a good time on this vacation.  We also found out that a free trip isn't ever free and that there are some things we need to think about the next time we go on vacation with either one of our families.  Speaking of, next up is being traumatized by my family for the holidays...

  1. LOVED the Stratosphere Tower and Zumanity ... but I have to say, I don't envy you and the family vacation thing. My experience (bachelorette party) was a bit more "big-kid-like."

Do wish I could have seen Hoover Dam, though. And the atomic bomb testing museum.
